THE FLAMING HEART is a story of rebirth, set at the dawn of a New Year. Roslyn (45) returns home to the Highland town she fled as a teenager. A journey that navigates motherhood, madness and mortality.

THE FLAMING HEART is funded in development by BBC Films and will be writer/director Ruth Paxton’s feature debut.

In 2019, Screen Daily featured Ruth as one of ‘Six emerging Scotland-based directors you need to know’.

Her award-winning short films have been exhibited and nominated in competition at numerous international events and prominent film festivals; her short drama PARIS/SEXY won the UK Film Council’s award for Best British Short at the 2011 London Short Film Festival, and she won Best Woman Director at the same festival in 2015 for her film, PULSE.
